Cost distribution when using Amazon S3

    Hi.
Some months ago we configured S3 as volume for Powerstore. We have ~27G of data stored there, but we get relatively high invoices from Amazon. I.e. last one was 10.54$, 1.98$ for storage and 8.56$ for bandwidth! In one month we have 95GB of data being transferred out.

We store in S3 mails older than 3 years, so unlikely we can produce nearly four times the data in transfer.

    Why that? Backup?

    Thanks

    Hello Maxxer,

Powerstore should send an e-mail with a report every day to the admin account, it is a good place to start looking for information.
    The commands
    Code:
zxsuite powerstore getVolumeStats $yourS3volumename show_volume_size true show_blob_num true
    zxsuite powerstore getHsmPolicy
    should help you too.

If you have mobile devices configured with the eas protocol you could verify if they sync items older than three years.

Looking at emails it seems to move ~100M/day.

    Code:
    $ zxsuite powerstore getVolumeStats S3_Parigi show_volume_size true show_blob_num true

            volume
                id 14
                name S3_Parigi
                path /S3-e396a096-e83a-449e-baa4-384514eccd68
                compressed true

As for mobile we do indeed have an Outlook client which has probably downloaded all the mails in the account, but it has been configured long time ago, I expect it not to make traffic all months. Can I check ZxMobile traffic?

    Thanks!

Well I was mistaken. We had an outlook client but long time ago, before zextras. Now we had a couple of Win Mail client, but they've not been active lately.

    Hello Maxxer,

there are several android devices in your list, please verify the "sync emails from" account setting (if they are using gmail as e-mail client).

Thanks, I asked already in the meantime and they all have short sync periods, like 3 months at most.
