    Moving data between HSM volumes

    Is it possible to move data between HSM volumes using ZxPowerstore?

    For example how would I move all mail data from hsm-vol1 to hsm-vol2 that's over 1 year old?

    Also is it possible to move data from a local HSM volume to S3 and from S3 back to local?

    Hi Diq,

    you can move data from any volume to another via zxsuite CLI command "zxsuite powerstore doVolumeToVolumeMove":

    ~$ zxsuite help powerstore doVolumeToVolumeMove
    Start the doMoveVolumeBlobs operation.

    Syntax:
    zxsuite powerstore doVolumeToVolumeMove {source_volume_name} {destination_volume_name}

    PARAMETER LIST

    NAME TYPE
    source_volume_name(M) String
    destination_volume_name(M) String

    (M) == mandatory parameter, (O) == optional parameter

    Usage example:

    zxsuite powerstore doVolumeToVolumeMove sourceVolume destVolume
    Moves the whole sourceVolume to destVolume
    Have a nice day.

    Hello, DiQ!

    In addition to D0s_0n's suggestion, you can move items from a local secondary volume to any other (local or S3 alike) according to any HSM policy by promoting the former to primary on the Zextras Powerstore GUI, setting the latter to current and running the HSM...

    In your case, you'd need to:
    * Promote hsm-vol1 to "Primary" (no need to make it current)
    * Set hsm-vol2 as "Current"
    * Set the policy you wish and apply it
    This way, you'll move all items that match the policy from primary volumes to hsm-vol2

    However, due to the fact that only secondary volumes can be on S3 it's not possible to use this method to move items from an S3 volume to any other volume.

    Have a nice day,

    Thanks for these, both useful.

    doVolumeToVolumeMove says it has mandatory and optional parameters.

    What are the optional parameters?

    Also...

    Also is it possible to use Zimbra NE's MoveBlobsRequest between local and S3 volumes and back again?

    I've promote hsm1 to primary with hsm2 set as the current secondary volume.

    I have an HSM policy : appointment,task,chat,message,contact,document:bef ore: -21day is anywhere

    I create a new HSM policy to move all mail older than 3 years with "is:anywhere".

    I now have 2 HSM policies. I can't remove the original. If I remove the newly created policy and edit the original it becomes a new policy and the original remains.

    How do I remove the original HSM policy? Do I need to? I don't want both policies to run, if they do then data over 21 days will move with the data that's over 3 years.

    Why isn't the original policy editable? I'm running NE, does the NE HSM clash?
