    Send mail wrong name?

    Hi,

I'm running Zimbra 8.0.3 with the latest Zextra's. And i have a problem, when i send an e-mail from my computer, the reiceiver sees "From : Dennis Brouwer", when i send an e-mail from the webmail, the receiver sees "From : Dennis Brouwer" BUT when i use my mobile phone (HTC One, Android), the receiver sees "From : mail". Mail = the username. How can i fix this?

    Regards,
    Dennis Brouwer

    Hello Dennis!

When sending an email from the mobile device, the "From:" field is set according to the following process

    - If the mobile client sets the "From:" header, keep it.
    - If the mobile client does not set the header, use the following mailbox attribute to create it: "zimbraPrefFromDisplay". If this attribute is empty/invalid, use "zimbraMailDeliveryAddress" .
    - If the mobile client does not set the header, and neither "zimbraPrefFromDisplay" nor "zimbraMailDeliveryAddress" are valid attributes, use the uid and domain of the mailbox to create the header.

It seems that either the client app is creating a bad "From:" header or either "zimbraPrefFromDisplay" or "zimbraMailDeliveryAddress" are set to "mail"...

    Hello dennusb!

It's an account attribute, so you'll need to use the `zmprov` CLI tool to check and edit it...

    to check the value:
    Code:
    zmprov ga account@domain.com zimbraPrefFromDisplay
    to edit the value:
    Code:
    zmprov ma account@domain.com zimbraPrefFromDisplay "insert_value_here"
Both commands must be executed as the 'zimbra' user, and can be used for the "zimbraMailDeliveryAddress" property too...

    Hello ramalheiro,
    welcome to the forums!

I'm afraid I don't fully get the mean of your post, what are you referring to by saying "I need to change one by one" ?

Hi Cine, about the solution that you post, the code above solved my problem, but my question is if I have to do this for every new account.

    Hello ramalheiro!
You only need to fix the appropriate property for users experiencing the issue, usually 1 of the 4 cases I mentioned apply and there is no need to change anything...

If you notice that all users need this fix, the cause is probably a particular configuration on your server. You can always create a bash script to change the property for all your users.
