Question Mail in Outbox sent even password is changed ?

    Hello,

Tested with iPhone & Outlook 2016 ActiveSync :

    1. Configure an ActiveSync account on the device and use it
    2. Go away from internet or set up "offline" mode in Outlook
    3. Compose new mail, send it. We are not connected, the the mail goes to Outbox and stay in it
    4. Change password of account, from admin console or account itself
    5. Wait few seconds, minutes... or days !
    6. Put device on internet, or go away offline mode from Outlook
    7. Mail is sent, even the password has been changed !

How is it possible ? How can i avoid it (i.e. : user leave company,...) ?

    Thanks in advance !

    Hi Sylv1,

I suspect a simple reason reflects this behaviour: have you set a Mobile Password for that account?

    Have a nice day.

    Hello d0s0n,

Nope, we've not set this feature for this account. Do that will be avoid this behaviour ?

We've also tested "Reset device", it works and the connection is well broken.

    Thanks !

    Hello Sylv1!

I've discussed this behaviour with the Devs and they confirmed that the EAS authentication is cached for 1 hour, and that either resetting the device (syncstate) or removing the relevant entry from the Device list will indeed drop the cache... Do you confirm that you managed to send an email even days after the password has been changed? Did this happen multiple times on the same account?

    Have a nice day,

    Hello Cine !

Thanks for feedback. Nice to read you.

Mail was placed in outbox 17/02 and sent... 01/03. Meanwhile, the password have been changed two times. iPhone (in this case), was off for 2 weeks.

Two mails are concerned. I've tested the behavior, but with few seconds delays. Logs weren't set for this account .

Thanks for investigating this, and maybe see if all is OK in protocol. But in the future, i'll be more accurate with my clients when this case happened : resetting EAS session, and why not (if pro device), wipe device.

Subsidiary question : when we wipe device, is only the "exchange" account deleted or device is reset as factory setting ? I talk with our Microsoft contacts and Azure working on it with "pro vs private" sections on the device.

    Thanks!
