    calendar encountered timezone with no definition

    Hi all,

    We have a multi-server installation running CentOS 6 x86_64 on 17 Zimbra servers of which 7 are mailbox servers.
    We run Zimbra 8.0.8 OSE and ZeXtras 2.2.1 with Zal 1.10.1.

    We have some users with apple devices running latest iOS releases complaining about random calendaring problems (meeting invitations not recieved, not sent, random errors).
    We just upgraded from ZeXtras 2.0.4 to ZeXtras 2.2.1 and hope that fixes in 2.2.x will improve the situation.

    I also spotted the following warning in the logfiles, multiple times...

    Code:
    2016-01-18 20:58:33,453 WARN [ZxMobile] [] calendar - Encountered time zone with no definition: TZID=GMT+02.00/+03.00
    2016-01-18 22:35:00,273 WARN [ZxMobile] [tid=185;account=xxxx@forthnet.gr;id=DO136FALRH1E44EMTBG1PSJJVC;model=iPhone;proxy=10.24.31.10;oip=::ffff:62.1.23.45;eas=14.1;rid=1;] calendar - Encountered time zone with no definition: TZID=GMT+02.00/+03.00
    How can I fix this?

    Thanks,
    Sotiris.

    Hello Sotiris!

    We received some user feedbacks about the iOS9 behaviours you reported, but unfortunately we couldn't track down a way to reproduce all of those: we added some improvements and workarounds in ZeXtras Suite 2.2.0/2.2.1 so that should help, but if you still experience those issues and find a way to actively reproduce those please let me know ("debug" Account Logger files are always appreciated )!

    About the "Encountered time zone with no definition" error, that's an error Zimbra returns - catched and reported by ZxMobile - when a devices reports a timezone in a non-standard way:

    IIRC,
    Proper timezone field
    Code:
    TZID="(GMT-08.00) Pacific Time (US & Canada)/Tijuana"
    Incorrect timezone field

    Code:
    TZID=GMT+02.00/+03.00

    Hi Cine, thanks for replying.

    Unfortunatelly I haven't been able to reliably reproduce those reports yet, so no usable account logger files for us yet..

    I know the timezone field is incorrect, but it looks like a lot of apple devices are using it, so I was hoping that I would be able to register it, or "make it correct" somehow.. no?

    Sotiris.

    Hello Sotiris!

    The error is returned by Zimbra and displayed by ZeXtras Mobile, it might be possible to suppress it but I'm afraid doing so will make it harder to identify timezone-related issues... I'll open an RFE to the Devs and see what's their feedback

    Don't want to suppress it, no need for an RFE to hide an error..
    I was looking for a way to update the "timezone database" somehow..
    Possibly something like https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Changing_ZCS_Time_Zones
