    Question Alias Addresses in Outlook

    Hello,

I'm currently testing ZxMobile with Zimbra 8.6.

In my Zimbra Account I set some Aliases and some Personalities which I use to send E-Mails from.
I'm managing multiple E-Mailaddresses over a single Zimbra Account.

When I login to Outlook Mobile on Android I can only send mails from my primary Zimbra Account Address.
    No Aliases are detected.

When I login to Outlook 2016 on a Windows PC I can only send mails from the E-Mailaddress I setup.
    Also no Aliases detected.

Aren't the Aliases and Personalities which I setup in Zimbra offered to the Client?
Without this the plugin is useless for me.

    Thanks for your Help!

Hi virtualmarc and welcome to our forums.

As far as I know this limitation is given by the activesync protocol itself, all EAS clients can handle only one address for account, but you could set up the account with any alias/persona as EAS email address, but I don't know if a device can have multiple addresses belonging to the very same account.

    Have a nice day.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your answer.

I've just seen this working with a real Exchange, but might be a bit other protocol there.

In Outlook 2016 I had a workaround by adding all alias addresses as POP3 Accounts and disable sync over the Send-Receive-Groups.

On Outlook Mobile this doesn't work. It always uses the Account E-Mail defined when I created the account (which is no address I send from).
Theres also an Alias List which just shows this Entry.

I did some research some time ago when I tried to figure out how to add Sender Aliases in Outlook 2013/2016.
Aliases in MS Exchange have been mentioned as a solution, but haven't fully read these articles since I'm not using MS Exchange.

Since I have a workaround on Desktop and all aliases aren't needed on Mobile:
Is there any way to change the default e-mail address sent over activesync to the client (which is used by Outlook Mobile) without renaming the account in Zimbra?

    Hi virtualmarc,

I've personally tested a device connected using an alias address with main account credential with no issue. The problem begin when you try to set up multiple EAS account with the same mailbox because synchronization keys use only the deviceId as sync reference. But if you need to sync more than one alias on a single device you can try to use different EAS client like Mailwise, Nine or Touchdown, they use different deviceId registering to the server.

    Have a nice day.
