Chat works now (perhaps a browser error), but Pidgin still not.

No error on log file in the server.

    Greetings!

The Dev Team reports that there is no acknowledgeable ZeXtras Chat-related cause for this issue, as it looks like client connections don't reach the server at all. I'd suggest to check your networking configuration (e.g. port usage and address binding) and also to make sure that:

    - no firewall rules block the XMPP ports or traffic.
    - no portforwarding or proxying rules route the XMPP traffic to a wrong server.
    - all clients connect to the appropriate mailboxd server (in case of multi-mailboxd infrastructures)

If everything is correctly set up and XMPP clients still can connect, please check your client settings. Feel free to post any client error you might see, I'll be glad to help!

    Have a nice day,
    Cine

XMPP access is enabled by default in ZeXtras Chat, so my suggestion is to check your network/firewall settings to make sure that the service is correctly bound to ports 5222 and 5223 of the server and that traffic is correctly routed/NATed to such ports.

You can enable ZeXtras Chat logging by running
    Code:
    zxsuite chat setProperty ZxChat_LogEnabled true
as the Zimbra user. All chat and system messages will be logged in /opt/zimbra/log/zxchat.log.

    Cine,

How about when the Zimbra setup is a multi-server install (multiple mailbox servers) and Zimbra Proxy in the frony-end?

    Regards,

    Dennis

    Hello Dennis!

ZeXtras Suite 2.0 includes the new "XMPP Proxying" feature, meaning that XMPP connections can go to any mailboxd - which will then proxy those to the appropriate server. In your case, you can proceed exactly as described above by opening the XMPP ports on your firewall and route all the traffic to a single mailboxd via NAT rules...
