    problems

I have few problems related with zxChat:

    1. BIG PROBLEM with Chat's history. Sometimes it is saved sometimes it's not and it is completly not deterministic, eg. despite I have had a few conversation with few budies since 22.02.2013 now I can see only conversations that took place before that date. All of my users experiance this problem and it repeats from time to time on unregular basis.

    2. posts during converstation sometimes show up immidetely sometimes they have big delay. Lets say I write some sentences one by one; first one may show up in my and my buddy chat window just right after I push Enter but the second or third etc. ones show up in intervals from many seconds to even minutes. If my buddy tries to respond in the same time he is unaware of all sentences I try to write to him and it break all conversation into pieces.

    3. From time to time during login I got zxChat stackoverflow error

    4. From time to time Chat hangs and not show any added buddies until Zimbra user is relogin.

    5. Hyperlinks paste to Chat window cannot be accessed directly it beacause not all hyperlink is is paste as a HYPERLINK (I have print a conversation into massage and copy link from that place).

    6. Chat make my Zimbra login much slower than it was before zextras Core was installed.
    Regards,

    Hello mkazmierczyk!

In order to help you I'd need to know:

    - The Zimbra version you are running
    - The ZeXtras Suite version you are running
    - The ZeXtras Chat Zimlet version you are running
    - The OS/Architecture of your server
    - Whether you run a single-server or multiserver environment

    Have a nice day,

    Hello mkazmierczyk!

Regarding the stackOverflow issue, where did you see the error? Can you please provide me with the complete error message?
About the hyperlinks: is the behaviour randomic or are there some specific URLs that are not transformed into hyperlinks?

Also, I see that you were a ZeXtras Chat betatester so I'd need to run the following test to make sure that no bad data is stored in the ZeXtras Chat database due to issues in early unstable versions:

    - Shut down the mailboxd service (as the zimbra user: `zmmailboxdctl stop`)
    - Rename the /opt/zimbra/conf/zextras/zxchat/ directory (don't delete it, just rename it)
    - Start the mailboxd service (as the zimbra user: `zmmailboxdctl start`)

This way the ZeXtras Chat database will be reinitialized from scratch (you will lose buddy lists, undelivered messages and unsaved messages). Please verify if any of the reported issues appears.

    Have a nice day,
    Cine

It is production system and I can't make my users to add their buddies from scratch. Are there any other solutions ?

In fact, when upgrading to version (from test version) 1.0, I completly uninstalled Core and Chat so I don't think my problems could be related to previous unstable versions.

    Hello mkazmierczyk,

you can always go back to the old database by shutting down the mailboxd service, renaming the old directory back to "zxchat/" and start the mailboxd to get back to your old database.

Thus said, my suggestion is to use the ZeXtras Chat CLI to prepare a script that will extract the current buddy list informations to re-apply them after the database wipe...
Running the following command for all users and dumping the output to a text file should do:
    Code:
    zxsuite chat getBuddyList user@domain.com | grep "friend " | awk -F' ' {'print "zxsuite chat doAddBuddies user@domain.com "$2'}
(don't delete the whitespace in the grep command)

You can then run the commands in the text file to populate the buddy lists again.

Uninstalling ZeXtras Suite does not remove the ZeXtras Chat database and history, the only way to do so is to delete the /opt/zimbra/conf/zextras/zxchat/ directory.

Can you please give me more details about the stackOverflow issue? I'd really like to find out more and check any information you can give me with the devs...

    Thank you...
By chance, are there any "java.lang.StackOverflowError" exceptions in the mailbox.log file?

Above error has much more lines that loop constantly and the error alone also repeats many times.

    Hi mkazmierczyk,

looks like a deeper investigation is needed in order to understand what could have caused this issue.

The error occurs when saving messages in history, it looks like someone sent a troublesome chat message around 22.02.2013. To see all unsaved/undelivered messages just run this command as the zimbra user:
    Code:
    zxsuite chat doDBSelect tables MESSAGES

Feel free to send us the output of this command (and a zip archive containing the whole "zxchat/" folder if you could) via e-mail to community@zextras.com.

    Have a nice day,
    Cine
    the ZeXtras Team
