    Zimbra migraton with zxsuite stuck?

    Hello all,

I just tried to upgrade my zimbra install from a ubuntu 8.04 32 server to a ubuntu 10.04 64 server.

I installed the zxsuite on the source and the destination server and did the "zxsuite backup doFullScan" command on the source server that created a zextras directory of 14gb of size.

Then i copyed the files to the new server and did the "zxsuite backup doExternalRestore /path/for/the/data/" command. The importation started i created all my accounts on the new server, but i think it got stuck on the items import!

When i see the zextras_ZxBackup_ExternalRestore_27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b.log file, i see that one item is being restored for more than one hour, and the previous items where restored in seconds. The following is a tail of the log file:

    2012-08-06 00:11:21,951 [27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b] ExternalRestore INFO Adding item 24451
    2012-08-06 00:11:21,978 [27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b] ExternalRestore INFO Adding item 6978
    2012-08-06 00:11:22,16 [27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b] ExternalRestore INFO Adding item 24448
    2012-08-06 00:11:22,45 [27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b] ExternalRestore INFO Adding item 6977
    2012-08-06 00:11:22,152 [27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b] ExternalRestore INFO Adding item 24449

Now its 01:23 i the 24449 item is still beeing added! Is it correct? How can i see if the process is stuck?

Thank you very much for any help!

On the mailbox.log file the only suspicious thing i can see is:

2012-08-06 01:07:03,476 INFO [ZxBackup Thread] [] extensions - Operation will be ignored. Please run a Live Full Scan to initialize the backup system.

Is it related with the restore process?

    Thanks

    Hello cyroreal,
    welcome to the forums!

First of all, the "Operation Ignored" message is perfectly normal, as all ZxBackup operations are ignored until a Live Full Scan is completed. This message shouldn't be displayed if another operation is running, so it looks like the External Restore operation crashed.

I need to ask you some questions in order to see what's going on:

    - What version of ZeXtras Suite are you running?
    - Did you check your source data as described HERE?
    - What's the output of the following command (must be ran as the zimbra user): zxsuite backup getAllOperations
    - Did you get any error notification regarding the External Restore operation in the Notifications tab of the ZeXtras Administration Zimlet?

Also please email me (community@zextras.com) the file containing the metadata of the item which seems to stuck the process, which is located at /path/for/the/data/accounts/27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b/items/49/24449, and the file containing the actual data (if any). To find the latter file, open the metadata one with a text editor and see if it begins with [{"digest":"DigestCode" (only some items do, e.g. emails do and contacts don't). If so you will find the data file in /path/for/the/data/items/[first 2 characters of the DigestCode]/[DigestCode].

    Have a nice day,
    Cine

Yes it was stuck, after 12 hours nothing changed!

    Answering you questions:

    1. The latest one 1.4.0!

    2. Yes i did, but the first command changed to zblobchk, and i saw some very few erros that i didnt know how to solve, so i ignored them! The second command zmdbintegrityreport i did not run, is it important! And the reindex script didnt run on zimbra 7.2 so i did not reindex all mailboxes!

    3. The output of this command is:

    operations

    4. No error notification!

I will send the files to you!

Thanks very much for the help.

OK! On the /backup/zextras/27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b/items/49 directory, there is no 24449 file, but there is a 4449 file! This is a cat of the file:

[private information removed, please send it via email - Cine]

    Thanks again for the help!

This is strange... The operation gets stuck on item 24449 but the related metadata file does not exist... Can you please send me the output of the

    "tree /backup/zextras/accounts/"

    command?
Might be kinda verbose so I suggest you to redirect the output of the command to a file and then compress it with gzip or lzma.

    Hi Cyroreal

I got the file, can you please check the ExternalRestore Log to see whose the troublesome item belongs? Go to the end of the file, which should be the "Adding item 24449" line, and search backwards the last line containing the words "Restoring common items of account". I need to know the zimbraID of that user in the source server (the Devs just made me notice that "27e7c2f6-a0b3-4e1d-b079-368e4cb1353b" is actually the source server's operation id and not the account's id).

    Hi cyroreal.
You can check it on the source server with the command:
    Code:
    zmprov ga cysneiros.constantino@domain.com zimbraId
    D0s0n
