After changing ldap tried to restore but it seems like it duplicates everything.
ldap on both current and new mail server works but they are different which might be the cause why it's restoring everything
    instead of an incremental.
Should both current and new server have exactly the same ldap settings to be able to migrate ?

    Hello Perry,

differences in the LDAP are not a cause of item duplication, as ZeXtras Backup uses a mapfile system in order to avoid this kind of issues (see ZxBackup Store - ZeXtras Suite Wiki).

My best guess is that the mapfiles in the /opt/zimbra/backup/zextras/ directory of the destination server are unreadable/unavailable, can you please check?

    Hello Perry,

any difference between this import and the previous? Is this a fresh start (new export/new source)?

    Hi Cine,

The only difference is that I tweaked around with ldap to get it working on the new server.
Yes, the source is fresh, because another hard disk died I did create a new data ferry.
    Thanks,
    Perry

    Cine another question:
since we started the migration proces way back we have many emails on the new server that have been deleted a long time ago on the current server
therefore it might be better to remove the complete mailstore on the new server and do a restore from scratch (using a new data ferry).
Is it possible to delete the complete mailstore on the new server ?
    Thanks,
    Perry

This is a very good idea...

Unfortunately there is no way (as far as I know) to bulk remove all users, domains and classes of service.
I guess the fastest way would be to uninstall Zimbra on the destination server, cleanup the /opt/ directory so that no Zimbra or ZeXtras Backup data is left and start from scratch. You'll just need to manually set server configuration, everything else will be imported from the source server.

To speed up the process I suggest you to run an incremental migration as explained HERE so you won't need any Ferry Store at all, but that's a personal preference.

Since you will be using version 1.4 for the new import, chances are you won't need to editing/changing the LDAP as long as the original Zimbra data is valid (attributes regarding posix_account and samba zimlets will be skipped if invalid).

    Hi Cine,
Restore to the reinstalled Zimbra/Zextras failed, just send the mailbox log extract by email.
Domains got created but no accounts.
    Thanks,
    Perry

    Hi Perry,
    I got the email.

    A couple of questions:

    - Did you install the posix_account zimlet in the destination server?
    - Did you copy/import LDAP data from the source server manually?
    - Is the account causing the error an actual mailbox or a resource?

    Hi Cine,

Yes, I did install posix_account on the destination and did copy LDAP data manually before starting the restore.
I even created the posix groups on the destination server to make sure the restore would run smoothly.
The account is an actual mailbox.

    Thanks,

    Perry
