    Restore deleted folder

    Hi,

Can we restore a manually created folder with the undelete/restore function ?

For example, if we create a folder named "Friends" and deletes it by error, can we restore the folder "Friends" with his content ?

    Thanks for your explanation.

    Regards,

    Hello Dedisoft!

The “Undelete Restore” operation will restore all emails deleted in a specific period of time, but it won’t restore the folder itself - so you’ll need to create it and move the restored items manually...

    I'm surprise reading that !

A folder is an item like contact, mail, ....

Why can't we restore a folder with all of his mails ? Is there any possible evolution in the future about this ?

    Thanks

    Hi dedisoft,

you are right and like other items, it can be restored with a single CLI command:
    Code:
    $ zxsuite backup getItem
    command getItem requires more parameters

    Syntax:
       zxsuite backup getItem {account} {item} [attr1 value1 [attr2 value2...]]

    PARAMETER LIST

    NAME TYPE EXPECTED VALUES DEFAULT
    account(M) Account Name/ID
    item(M) Integer
    backup_path(O) Path /opt/zimbra/backup/zextras
    dump_blob(O) Boolean true|false false
    date(O) Date dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss|all last

    (M) == mandatory parameter, (O) == optional parameter

    Usage example:

    zxsuite backup getitem a7300a00-56ec-46c3-9773-c6ef7c4f3636 1
Shows item with id = 1 belonging to account a7300a00-56ec-46c3-9773-c6ef7c4f3636
...but the problem is its content because every item has a different specific history with a realtime backup system, so if you need to restore a complete folder you need to use the Restore On New feature.

    Have a nice day.

    Hi,

    Many thanks for your reply.

The "Restore On New Account" didn't restore any folder...

I absolutly needs to be able to restore a folder. Some of my customers have many folders with hundred of mails. I didn't know which mails is on which folder and they refuse to arrange their mails again.

    Have you any idea ?

I don't understand why this is not already the case.

    Thanks

    Hello dedisoft!

The "Restore on New Account" creates a copy of the mailbox exactly as it was in a specific moment in time, so please make sure to have selected a Restore Date in which the folder was still available.
After doing so, you can export the folder using Zimbra's own "Export" feature and import it on the original mailbox.
