    Question CLI for a restore of a migration dataset

    Hi

    We've used the zxmigrate tool to export the data from the old server, but need to use CLI tools to undertake the restore. We're presuming by the documentation that it is the zxbackup module that is undertaking the restore, but can't work out the CLI option that is the equivalent of the process described in https://wiki.zextras.com/wiki/ZeXtra...ion_Tool_Guide - the command we've tried is

    zxsuite backup doExternalRestore /mnt/zmigrate/data/

    (where we want to import everything to the new server). Running this command returns an operation ID and the DNS name of the server, but doesn't appear to import anything. It generates a log containing lines similar to

    Hi putt1ck!

    The doExternalRestore has a dedicated log - namely
    Code:
     /opt/zimbra/log/op_ExternalRestore_[operationId].log
    You can also monitor the backup progress using the monitor CLI subcommand .

    Code:
    [zimbra@mail ~]$   zxsuite backup monitor {operation_uuid}
    To verify if the operation is still running or is in the queue, you can use the
    Code:
    zxsuite backup getAllOperations
    Finally, check tor the Zextras Notification messages in the admin mailbox, or using the CLI

    Code:
    [zimbra@mail ~]$ zxsuite core getNotification
    [zimbra@mail ~]$ zxsuite core getNotification [notificationID]
    where the NotificationId could be obtained by the first command

    Sorry, I should have followed up on this one. We found in the log a complaint about lack of write permissions to /opt/zimbra/backup/zextras - which didn't exist as a directory; we created it and chowned it to zimbra and it was fine. Though 6.1m items and 6 days later it hasn't finished...

    Maybe it could be useful for the future, but using the CLI you can speed up the restore through multithreading, using the "concurrent_accounts" parameter, that allows restoring multiple accounts at the same time.

    Usage example:
    Code:
    zxsuite backup doExternalRestore /tmp/external1 domains example0.com,example1.com concurrent_accounts 5
    
    Restores the example0.com and example1.com domain, excluding system accounts, restoring 5 accounts at same time from a backup located in /tmp/external1
