ZeXtras Migration Tool version compatibility problem

    Hello,

I have Zimbra v8.5.0 installed in my server. I downloaded http://www.zextras.com/download/zext...ool-latest.tgz and tried to install it, but without success:

    Code:
    [root@mail zextras_migration_tool-1.8.17]# ./install.sh all

    -------------------------

    Checking for existing installations ...

    FOUND Zimbra 8.5.0

    Zimbra 8.5.x has been detected.
This version of ZeXtras Suite has been built for Zimbra 8.5.0 BETA2 only.
Your current Zimbra version is NOT compatible with this ZeXtras Suite package, please download the latest ZeXtras Suite version from http://www.zextras.com/
    Aborting installation!
Do you have some beta versions of your migration tool which compatible with the latest version of Zimbra?

    Thank you.

    Hello vaarsn,
    welcome to the forums!

The new release for the 1.9.x branch will include both ZeXtras Suite and the ZeXtras Migration Tool. We are currently building the final package, which will be available in a couple of hours

    Hello vaarsn!

Version 1.9.2 of both ZeXtras Suite and ZeXtras Migration Tool has been released: please check out THIS THREAD for further information about the 1.9.x branch - the Beta branch for the next stable release, 1.10 - and for the download link.

    Hello Cine,

I got it, installed and initialized Backup. But I see no section with Migration wizard. This is what I see:

In backups at the bottom I see something related to my needs:

To be more clear. I have 2 servers (old and new). I have both the same versions of Zimbra 8.5.0 GA installed on both servers. I want to move all my email accounts (with aliases) and with their emails from my old server to a new one.
Is that possible to do with your tool?

    Thank you.

    Hello vaarsn!

    It sure is possible

ZeXtras Suite and the ZeXtras Migration Tool are two different softwares - so it's normal not to find any reference to ZxMig in ZeXtras Suite - but if you have ZeXtras Suite installed on both servers you can migrate your data by simply using the "Export Backup" feature on the source server and then the "Import Backup" feature on the destination one.

You can find the full documentation about both ZeXtras Suite and the ZeXtras Migration Tool along with multiple migration guides (ZxMig-to-ZxSuite, ZxSuite Export/Import, Incremental Migration) on the ZeXtras Wiki at ZeXtras Suite Wiki

    Hi Cine,

Thank you for your suggestions. This is what I did:

    1. Installed ZxMix on my old server, created backup of my domain (I have only 1 domain).
    2. via
    Code:
    rsync -axvzKHS /opt/zimbra/backup/export 199.199.199.199:/opt/zimbra/backup/
I moved newly created backup to my new server.
    3. Installed ZxSuite on my new server and I chose Import backup but for some reason I see only 2 my accounts: admin@ and my second account in the list where they should be restored. In the mean time I unchecked all options under:

    Hide deleted Accounts:
    Do not restore System Accounts:
    Do not restore Aliases:
    Do not restore Distribution Lists:
Do not restore Classes of Service:
I see system accounts like spam, galsync, ham etc. But I still can't see my other accounts. Please note that I have 26 accounts on my server + 4 system accounts = 30 accounts in total. So I checked my /opt/zimbra/backup/export folder on a new server and this is what I see:

    Code:
    [zimbra@mail accounts]$ ls -lah
    total 128K

It seems that my accounts there (all 30 accounts), but why they can't be restored?

    Hello vaarsn!

Do the source and destination folder have the same size and file count?
Can you please try running the rsync command again to make sure that all data has been successfully moved (the only needed option is -a)?

    Have a nice day,

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I relaunched rsync. No updates was performed on the destination side. Also, as requested:

    Old server:

    Code:
    [root@mail export]# for t in files links directories; do echo `find . -maxdepth 15 -type ${t:0:1} | wc -l` $t; done 2> /dev/null
    3219 files
    0 links
    788 directories
    Code:
    [root@mail backup]# du -s export/
    16140 export/
    [root@mail backup]# pwd
    New server:

    Code:
    [root@mail export]# for t in files links directories; do echo `find . -maxdepth 15 -type ${t:0:1} | wc -l` $t; done 2> /dev/null
    3219 files
    0 links
    788 directories
    Code:
    [root@mail backup]# du -s export/
    16140 export/
Do you have any suggestions how to improve this bug? I upgraded my Old server today to the latest Zimbra version, because I wanted to move it manually. Maybe this could cause the issue? If yes, I can restore my VirtualMachine snapshot to original Zimbra installation (it was version 8.0.3).
