Notification to upgrade Zextras from 1.8.11 to 1.8.11 ?

    I run Zimbra 8.0.5 + ZExtras 1.8.11.

Zextras 1.8.11 has been installed since its original release date. On my system it's

    Updates
    Current Version: 1.8.11
    Build ID: 8006ee01fb4446de87ac547dab5f7ae5d5e15a0b
    Available Version: 1.8.11

Just this morning I received a notification email:

    Code:
This is an automated notification from ZeXtras Suite.

A new version of the ZeXtras Suite package is available at http://www.zextras.com .
We strongly recommend to update to the latest version.
You can see the changelog at http://wiki.zextras.com/wiki/Changelog .

    See below for extended information.

    Installed Version: 1.8.11
    Latest Version: 1.8.11
Latest Version Release Date: 18/10/2013 05:00:00
Latest Version Description: Version 1.8.11 Hotfix 1
An issue has been found on the EAS14 Beta feature of ZeXtras Mobile. See http://forums.zextras.com/zxmobile/762-no-sync-eas14-after-upgrade-1-8-11-a.html for more informations.
The hotfix only applies to EAS14 users, if you are not using the ZeXtras Mobile module or the EAS14 Beta feature specifically, it's safe to ignore the hotfix.
    ...
The provided link refers to a thread from 10-23-2013.

Is this a notice of some legitimate upgrade, or is the detection/notification broken?

    Hello rbsf!

The notification you received is 100% legitimate, as a new ZeXtras Suite 1.8.11 package has been released to fix the EAS14 issue discussed in the thread linked in the release description.
This hotfix only affects the EAS14 Beta feature - specifically, the "Use EAS14 Beta" checkbox was uneffective - so feel free to ignore this upgrade if you are not using such beta feature.

When was the bugfix for the EAS14 issue released?

Today? If so, that explains why there's a notice today. But the message that's sent does not in any way identify the FIX today -- it simply refers to an old thread.

If it was released before today, why am I receiving a notice (only) today?

As far as 'ignoring' it, I'd like to -- if appropriate. Each time I visit the Admin UI, however, I'm being notified of the update.

    Hello rbsf!

As stated in the linked thread, the hotfix was released on October 30th, 2013 around 6pm GMT+1.
The appropriate information has been added to the updating system today, and we chose to do so in order to avoid such an 'unusual' update notice to be displayed near the weekend, when community support and the Customer Care team are not on full duty.

Rather than having to guess & chase down information that should be included in the notice in the 1st place, it would be useful to have the notice identify the specific build/release ID# of the 'offered' upgrade, for comparison with the currently installed ID.

And, that still leave the issue that every time I visit the Admin UI I'm being told about the upgrade.

Thank you for your feedback, we'll do our best to improve this kind of communications!

I'll talk with the Design Team about this... Our policy is to always display the notification when a new release is available, but for this kind of situation they might consider a "message acknowledged" feature.

I installed the hotfix 1.8.11 update over an existing 1.8.11 update, just to silence the constant renotification which appears it would continue at each/every login until if/when 1.8.12 were to be released.

On install if the hotifx's zimlet, @shell, the message

    Code:
    ...
Beginning ZeXtras Suite Zimlet installation procedure ...

This is an attempt to reinstall the same
    version of ZeXtras Suite Zimlet.
    ...
appears. Which technically is correct as the VERSION tag (1.8.11) is the same, but it is certainly NOT the same build ID.

    It's misleading at best.
