Exclamation Zextras broken after attempted update from 2.4.13 to 3.1.5

    Hey:

I am unable to update from 2.4.13 to 3.1.5 and now my zextras is inoperative. Here is the info from the installer:

    Code:
    Checking for existing installations ...

    FOUND Zimbra 8.8.15 FOSS P14

Checking whether you are installing the latest version ...

    Current release: 3.1.5
    Latest release: 2.4.13
The installer works up until this point:
    Code:
Beginning Zextras Suite Theme installation procedure ...

The Zextras Suite Theme will now be installed. Proceed? [Y]

./libs/functions.sh: line 648: ar: command not found
tar (child): data.tar.xz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
    tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
rm: cannot remove './control.tar.xz': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove './data.tar.xz': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove 'debian-binary': No such file or directory
Destination directory /opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/zimbra/skins/zextras cannot be written in. Exiting.

    Now my zextras is broken:
    Code:
    Critical
JavaScript error encountered in method ZaOverviewPanelController.prototype._overviewTreeListener
How can I repair it without wrecking my Zimbra install?

    Hello Myriad,

the setup error is related to the command ar that is missing on this system, we suggest to run it again after installing the binutils package.
Please run the setup again after installing the binutils package.

Thanks Gil I had the exact same error and installing binutils worked for me.

Worth nothing - I have been using Zextras for well over 5 years now and have never encountered an error installing/updating. Why isn't binutils installed as a dependency if it is now needed? I think a check needs to be built-in to the installer so that it install binutils if not present.

    Thank you!

i had the same problem and thanks to you i solved it too by installing binutils. so really thank you !!
I also think it would have been better to check before realizing it in this way.
