    .zetmp file

    Hi everybody,
today, searching for "big" files in zimbra directories, I found a 1GB file named redolog-1286.zetmp in /opt/zimbra/redolog/ ... Google returns only two results about .zetmp files, both regarding ZeXtras: currently we are running Zimbra 7.2.7 and ZeXtras 1.8.x for backup.
So my question is: can I delete this file? Last modification time is set to 09/30/2014 .
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi cinmar,

it seems a bit weird... That file is a hard linked redo.log file copy used by the Zextras Realtime Scanner to monitor all zimbra activities and it should be deleted after it is parsed correctly.

If you check the zextras' changelog for the 1.8.12 release you can see a fix for a probably related issue:
    ...
Fixed an issue that could cause the RealTime Scanner to get stuck in case of a RedoLog corruption.
    ...
Can you please specify the exact Zextras version you are using?
As specified on our guide "How to report a ZeXtras Suite issue" we need at least the output of command (as zimbra user):
    Code:
    $ zxsuite core getVersion
    .

In this particular case, other relevant infos can be useful:
    Code:
    $ ls -l /opt/zimbra/redolog
    and:

    Code:
    $zmprov gacf |grep -i RedoLog

You can check if that file is yet used by the command (as root):
    Code:
    # lsof /opt/zimbra/redolog/redolog-1286.zetmp
Keep us posted before delete it

    Hello cinmar!

I see you are running a quite old ZeXtras Suite version, so you might have stumbled in an undetected bug: could you please update to the latest release, check if the file is still present after the update and keep the situation monitored?

Ok, we will upgrade to 1.8.18 in the next days, then I will let you know the results.
I have only one question: reading release notes, i found that ZxBackup now uses a "Virtual Filesystem". Does it imply a higher hard disk space consumption? Currently we have only 4GB free on zimbra disk

    Hello Cinmar!

The new Virtual FileSystem used by ZeXtras Backup since ZeXtras Suite 1.8.17 won't affect the amount of space used by ZeXtras Backup to store its data...

Hi everybody, a few days ago we updated ZeXtras to last 1.8.18 and the old redolog-1286.zetmp disappeared.
Now we have a .zetmp file that grows like redo.log file, and, as far as I understood, this is the normal behaviour:

    Code:
    -rw-r----- 2 zimbra zimbra 315M 2014-10-22 11:10 redo.log
    -rw-r----- 2 zimbra zimbra 315M 2014-10-22 11:10 redolog-1311.zetmp
In ZxNotification section, I found this alert:

Yesterday, 01:19 - Critical: ZxBackup Warning

WARNING: The server seems overloaded, RedoLog operations are being executed too slowly.
This might be a temporary spike, please keep an eye on the server load.
If the situation persists, consider to disable the ZeXtras Real Time Scanner until the server load is normalized.
This is a one-time warning sent by ZeXtras Suite, and no additional notifications about this problem will be sent until the next Zimbra restart.
We'll keep an eye on CPU load then...

redo log file-0.zetmp exists after uninstalling zextras, can delete the file without problems? Why it was that file 90gb after this?

    Hello zuser01!

The file you mention is a hardlink to Zimbra's own RedoLog, so It's perfectly safe to delete it if you uninstalled ZeXtras Suite.

The size of the file can be caused by several factors, usually a bad RedoLog policy - please have a look at this ZeXtras Wiki page (applied to both OSE and NE) or at the official Zimbra docs for more informations...
Just out of curiosity, could you please post the output of `ls -lah` of the directory containing the file? 90GB in size is extremely high, since the file should be rotated either when reaching 1GB in size or each 60 minutes.
