    Zimbra 7.2.1 to 8

    We have a 50 account license running a Zimbra 7.2.1.
    I just installed Zimbra 8 and tried to import the backup from 7.2.1 using zextras 1.6.1 and a get this exception in the log.
    The zextras on 7.2.1 is also version 1.6.1 and it has a license, the zextras in Zimbra 8 is a trial license.
    Zimbra 7.2.1 in running on centos 5 64bits and Zimbra 8 is running on CentOS 6 64bits.

    Any idea what could be wrong?

    Tks.

    Hello diryal,

    the "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space" means that Java ran out of memory and couldn't complete the operation...
    What are the specs of your server? Also, Phisical or Virtual?

    Hello Dirtyal.

    A couple of checks off the top of my head:

    * Check the JVM options in Zimbra (run the following command as the zimbra user):
    Code:
    zmlocalconfig mailboxd_java_options mailboxd_java_heap_size mailboxd_java_heap_memory_percent
    * Make sure that the RAM of the VM is not limited by the hypervisor (if you have a 2Gb limit increasing the ram from 4 to 8Gb would only worsen the situation)

    * Keep an eye on your system resources during the restore with htop to see if there is any process using an abnormal quantity of ram

    JVM options follow

    [root@mail ~]# su - zimbra
    [zimbra@mail ~]$ zmlocalconfig mailboxd_java_options mailboxd_java_heap_size mailboxd_java_heap_memory_percent
    Warning: null valued key 'mailboxd_java_heap_memory_percent'
    mailboxd_java_options = -server -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=60 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintGCApplicationStoppedTime -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
    mailboxd_java_heap_size = 256

    I will install HTOP and check this out.
    There is no limit comming form the hypervisor, at least I didīt find any.

    []s.

    I increased java heao memory and it is working, but, first, I got the message, Caused by: [ExternalRestore] Backup too old for Trial Version., I then installed my lincense on this HW to try import the backup from my production server, then got this error
    ZxBackup Thread: Operation ignored since ZxBackup license is not valid

    How can I import the backup on my zimbra 8 test server to test if all itens are ok before I can actually to a migration? Tks.

    Hello dirtyal!

    Is your license a "Perpetual License" bound to Zimbra 7? If so, please send me a Private Message with your ZeXtras Store username, I'll be glad to provide you with an Extended Trial License in order to run your tests...
